A vanity URL is a customised URL created for the purposes of marketing or branding. They are typically shorter than the original URL to allow it to be read out loud or used on social media and on marketing collateral. The vanity URL then directs users to your page which has a longer URL.
For example, a vanity URL of 'nsw.gov.au/your-event' could then take users to your page of 'nsw.gov.au/arts-and-culture/your-event'.
Vanity URLs are usually used for:
- important, key landing pages that have an always on campaign and are regularly promoted in your organisation's marketing collateral, such as your main agency page, or
- short, time-specific campaigns or events, such as an annual event.
All requests for vanity links should come through to the Content Operations team. To request a vanity URL, submit a request via the Content changes, website updates and support from a Content Administrator form. Please select the request type as 'I need to request a URL redirect or I am experiencing problems with an existing URL redirect' and fill out the required fields prior to submitting the request.
