Here are some of the common ones you may see and what to do if you come across them:
Code | Why did this happen? | What do I do now? |
---|---|---|
301 - permanently moved |
This means that the link or page has been permanently moved to a new URL. |
Create a redirect to the new page or the parent page. |
303 - bad redirect | This means that the URL you're trying to access is redirecting you to another URL however the communication isn't happening correctly. | Check the redirect is going to the correct page. |
404 - page not found | When the server doesn’t find anything at the requested location (or URL), it will give you take you to 404 page not found. This may mean that the page has been deleted or archived incorrectly. The page looks like this: |
Check the URL you have entered, is it correct? This may mean the page you're trying to find has been archived and a redirect has not been put in place. If you archive any pages on the site make sure you complete a re-direct. |
