The Address Lookup component allows customers to enter their address in two ways:
- Search and Select: Customers can type their address into a search field. As they type, a list of matching addresses appears in a dropdown. Selecting one will automatically populate the field.
- Enter Manually: If the address isn’t found or the customer prefers not to search, they can choose to enter their address manually using separate fields (e.g., street address, suburb, state, postcode).
When you should use an address lookup
- When you need a full and accurate address without errors
- You want address data in a consistent format
When you should avoid using an address lookup
- When you only need a part of an address (e.g. only suburb)
Guidelines
Do:
- Use clear labels and instructions to help customers understand how they can provide their address
- Especially for personal addresses, share why the address is needed and how the data will be used
Don't:
- Use the component to capture international addresses - it works best for Australian addresses
