Using signatures

Have more questions? Submit a request

The signature form element lets your customer sign the webform using their mouse or finger.

When you should use signatures

  • When it is legislative or formal requirement to collect a digital signature

When you should avoid signatures

  • When no legal or formal confirmation is required
  • When consent or acknowledgements can be recorded using other webform components, like a checkbox

Guidelines

Do:

  • Clearly label the element so it is clear what customers are signing (e.g. By signing, I confirm that the information provided in the form is true and correct)
  • Use conditional logic to show it only when it's necessary

Don't:

  • Use the element if there is no legislative or formal reason why it is required

Add a signature

  1. Navigate to Structure > Webforms > Forms and locate your webform by typing its name into the search.
  2. Open your webform and navigate to Build > + Add element.
  3. In the Select an element popup, select the Signature element.
  4. Complete the Add Signature element form:
    1. Title: the name of the element
    2. Element description / help / more: add information on why the signature is required
