Before you start
You will need to source:
- Approved biographies that are 450 characters or less, including spaces.
- High quality, square-ratio images of the people to be displayed. See the image requirements.
- Links to each person's official social media accounts if you want to include these. You must make sure you are linking to official social media accounts, and not personal ones.
When to use the Person Profiles component
Do
- Add profiles when you want to show one or more people with a biography.
- Check the image rights, just as you would when adding any other image. If you are unsure see selecting images.
Don't
- Do not use if you only want to display images but no biographies of the people. Consider using a Gallery.
- Do not use as a contact for general agency information. Consider a Contact instead.
How to create a Person to show on Person Profiles
Person Profiles uses the data that is used in the Person Content Type.
Create person content first. This will then be used to set up profiles on a page.
Follow the below to create a person content:
- From the site menu, go to Content > People > Add Person.
- On the Add Person screen, in the Label field add the person’s name. The Label field won’t display publicly when used in a Profiles component. However you will use the Label name in later steps to search and add your person profile on to your page.
- The Summary field is optional. It is where you can add the biography of the person. This is limited to 450 characters or less, including spaces.
- Enter the person's name in the Full name field. This is the name that will be displayed on the website, for example John Smith. Any post-nominals the person has can also be included in this field with their name, for example, John Smith OAM.
- The Role field is optional. However, if you are using it for one person, you should use it for all the people you are listing. Some examples include Chairman, Board member or other relevant job title of the person.
- In the Portrait field upload the headshot of your person by clicking the Add media button.
- In the Add or select media pop up click the Choose files button and a pop up will prompt you to find your media file in your computer’s documents.
- Select your media file and click the Open button.
- After you have selected your media item, you will go back to the Add or select pop-up. Enter the image mandatory fields for Title, Alternative text, Agency, Editorial group and then click Save. See uploading images to the CMS for full details about how to upload images.
- In the Social accordion, you will be presented with optional fields for Facebook, LinkedIn, Instagram and X. If the person you are adding wants to include their social media profile, add the URL to their profile on that platform to the relevant field. If the social fields are left empty, the social field won’t be visible at all on the website. Make sure you are adding the person's official social media account; many high profile people will have separate personal and professional social accounts.
- Do not enter any content in the Links accordion section. When the person is added to a Profiles component it will not display any content. (This field will be visible when a person is added into different component types).
- Scroll down and click Save.
