The Have your say website was launched in September 2011 to make it easier for people across NSW to participate in public consultations run by government agencies.
In 2012, a Premier's Memorandum directed all NSW Government agencies to list their public consultations on the website. In 2024, the Department of Customer service released an updated circular on Have your say reinforcing the requirement for all NSW Government agencies to publish their consultations on Have your say.
