Website content should not be a ‘set and forget’ exercise. It’s important that your content is relevant, up to date and accurate. This helps to make sure your customers get what they need and also upholds credibility and trustworthiness across the NSW government website.

It should also be designed with customer needs in mind – not your agency or stakeholder’s needs.
In an ideal world, you would do qualitative research with your users, to get a deep understanding of who they are and what they need from your content. However, this type of research can be both time consuming and expensive.

The good news is that we provide a number of tools and metrics you can use to get some of this information, to help you start improving your content without user research.

This section provides some advice and guidance on using these tools to get some practical starting points for improving your content.
