How to use Image attribution
Image attribution has been added to existing components that contain a feature image. An additional field called Image Credit has been added to the image stored in the Media Library. If an image contains credit information and is used in visual component on the page, the credit information will be automatically displayed.
Upload an image with attribution details
- Navigate to the media library in the CMS
- Click on the 'Add Media' button and select 'Image'
- Fill in the required fields and locate the 'Image Credit' field
- Enter the attribution information in the 'Image Credit' field (text only, up to 240 characters)
- Save the image to the Media library.
Adding image attribution to components
Insert the image into your page through an available component:
- Hero banner
- Feature block
- Content block cards
- WYSIWYG image
If the image in the Media library contains credit information it will automatically display. Note: the position of the image credit will vary by component, for example Feature Block: Left side of the image, Hero Banner: Right side of the image etc
The image credit can be hidden by Content Authors in the context of the page in some circumstances. This is done through configuration of the component on the page (not through the Media library). This is intended for situations where the usage of the image is too small to warrant attribution information.
Managing attribution on different page templates
- Image attribution is available on all page templates that allow the component to be placed there, including the Agency landing page, Landing pages, Standard page, News and Article page, Resource page, and Point of Interest page
- The panel will appear by default when the image has credit information available, however Content authors can disable the image credit feature for specific contexts via the component settings (not the media library)
Permissions and who can use it
- The image credit field is available to content authors who are able to upload images to the media library (content editors)
- Disabling image credits in the context of the page is available to content authors who have the access to edit that page (content editors)
