You can use the App list on both landing pages and content pages to display apps that relate to the page content. Audience will also be able to download the app through their respective app stores.

Apps on nsw.gov.au

Apps promoted on nsw.gov.au must be apps that are created and maintained by NSW Government agencies. Do not add non-government apps, even if they receive NSW Government funding or use open data.

Using the App list

Do

  • Only add an app if it relates to the page content and will help the audience.
  • The App list can be used on both landing and standard pages.
    • For standard pages the App list can be placed anywhere in the left column.
    • For landing pages, it should be placed in a full-width section at the bottom of the page above the thumbs up/down widget
    • Limit the number of apps that are listed. Too many apps may confuse the audience about what is important and what action they may want to take.

Don't

  • Don't add apps that are not related to the page content.
  • Don't add apps just to create visual interest on the page.
  • Don't add apps that the audience may see as promoting commercial interests.

Check what apps are available

How to check if the app you wish to use is already available in the CMS:

  1. Go to the top menu of the CMS then select Content > App.
  2. Search the listing by the app name or scroll though the app listing. There are over 70 apps available in the CMS.
  3. If the app you want is available, return to your page.

Adding an app

How to add an app to the apps library for use in your app list:

  1. Before you add an app you will need the following information and prepare some CMS resources:
    • The app name and description which will be visible to the audience.
    • Managed links need to be created for the Android and Apple store links.
    • Upload the app icon to the media library.
  2. Add the app from Content > App then select +Add app
  3. Enter the Admin label to identify the app in the CMS.
  4. App name: visible to the audience.
  5. Description: a brief summary of what the app is for. Visible to the audience.
  6. Links: enter in the available Managed Link URLs for the Apple and Android stores.
  7. Icon: upload the app icon you saved in the media library.
  8. Save the page.

This app link will now be available from the available apps drop-down list when you add an App list component.
