How to create Youth Week events

The below is a guide that Youth Week coordinators can use to create, edit and publish Youth Week events on nsw.gov.au


 

How to create and publish a Youth Week event

  1. Click on Manage > Content > Add Content > Event


     
  2. Select Event: Youth Week event from the list and click Submit.

  3. Enter in your Event details:
    Title: Name of your event
    Summary: A brief summary or teaser to entice people to come to your event
    Description: What is your event about and what is going to happen at the event


     
  4. Select the Event Tab > choose your Event category from the drop down list

  5. Enter in the Entry fee including $$ and CC for your event, or leave it as Free if there is no fee.
  6. Select the Age group that may want to attend your event, Select all ages if appropriate.
     
  7. Check the box if your event will be wheelchair accessible. Note: coming soon will be
    available to select “unsure” if you don’t know.



     
  8. Select the Date and Time for your event If the event occurs on one day for a period of time only, select your start date and time, select the same date for the end date and the end time for your event



    If the event occurs over a consecutive couple of days, at the same time every day you can select your start date and time, then your end date and end time. For example: This will display as Mon-Tues 9-5 if run over 2 days.



    If the event occurs over a few days but the days are not consecutive, for example Monday, Wednesday and Friday, you will need to add each date and the start and end times for each of those 3 days.


     
  9. If the event is online, select the Virtual event tick box
    a. Location = Online
    b. Council = select your Council area from the drop down, type the first letter of your council area


     
  10. If this event is a physical location event:
    a. Enter the Location = Name of the venue eg Old Post Office, My Town
    b. Council = select your Council area from the drop down, type the first letter of your council area



    c. Geocode address - enter in the exact location of the event to search on the Map, and select it from the drop down list that will appear

     
  11. Enter in the contact details for the event:
    a. Event contact name (in full)
    b. Event email address
    c. Event contact phone number or Council number
    d. Website for further details (optional or include for Virtual events) include https: at the start


     
  12. Select the Tags Tab > Start typing 'Communities and Justice' in the Agency field to select from the drop down list.
    You can also add Young People as an option in the Audience filter.


     
  13. Select the Media Tab
    a. Leave the media image blank to use the default event image



    b. Or to add your own, Select Add media
    c. Click to Choose files



    d. Search for your file on your computer, Click on the file and select the Open button



    e. Type in the Title for your image (eg name of your event)
    f. Alternative text - describe the image you have uploaded
    g. Click the Save button


     
  14. Tick the box for the image you just uploaded and click Insert Selected



     
  15. Scroll the to bottom of the page and change the Save as: drop-down to Published

  16. Click Save to publish your event

Your Event is now published for Youth Week.


 

How to update or edit a published Youth Week event

  1. Select My Dashboard > My edits


     
  2. In your list of events, find the event you want to edit, click on the Edit button
  3. Make the edits you need for your event

  4. If ready to publish, change the Change to: drop-down to Published and click Save

 

How to publish a draft Youth Week event

  1. Select My Dashboard > My edits


     
  2. In your list of events, find the drafted event you want to publish, click on the Edit button


     
  3. Scroll to the bottom of the page and change the Change to: dropdown to Published,
    click Save.



    Your draft Youth Week event is now Published.
