Assigning a parent page to a new page

The nsw.gov.au Content Management System (CMS) has been created in a hierarchical content type. This means that there are different levels: the parent page is on top, followed by child pages on a sub-level, which could again be followed by grand-child pages on a sub-sub-level.

A parent page can have multiple child pages but a child page can only have one parent page.

Follow these steps on how to assign a parent page.

  1. Navigate to the Connections tab in the content template
  2. There are two ways to associate the parent page to your new page:
    • Start to type the name of the page you want to have as the parent page for your new webpage and select from a drop down, or;

    • You can copy and paste the Parent page details from another child (or sub) page.Parent_page_Connections_tab.png

  3. Once all the required fields are filled in, click Save at the bottom of the page and your parent page will be assigned.

Note: if you're the copy and pasting the parent page details, be sure to include the node number in brackets, for example, Your parent page title (1234).
